Breathwork doesn't always have to be done in a formal class or session setting. One of my favorite things about breathwork is how accessible it is - I'm sharing my top 10 favorite ways you can incorporate breathwork into your everyday life!
| While standing in line. Doesn't it feel like we're always waiting in a line somewhere? Honestly for me I find waiting in line to be a very stressful event. When I find myself in this situation I do a round of rhythmic breathing - breathe in to the count of three and out to the count of three, repeat.
| Walking meditation. Mmmmm I love a good walking meditation. For me, I take a walk and breathe normally, but I'm focused and aware of my breath. This helps me feel more centered and connected to my body.
| Expressing gratitude. Gratitude is a part of my daily practice and once I am done writing in my journal I take a deep breath in and bring in all that I am grateful for.
| Technology break. How many days do you spend at your desk on your computer, or on your phone? If you worked an 8 hour day and stopped just once an hour for just one minute of intentional breathing that would be eight minutes a day! Eight minutes! Bonus points if you can get in some steps too!!
| Washing the dishes. I hate doing the dishes, but I hate it a little less than laundry π I have a window I look out while washing the dishes and as I'm scrubbing I breathe rhythmically with my and count at the same time: 1,2,3,4... 1,2,3,4... this helps me get some deep breaths in, and helps the time pass faster. Seriously - give it a try!
| Before a meeting. I'm a nervous speaker. Meetings tend to make me nervous, even if I'm not speaking. In this instance I take deep cleansing breaths in through the nose and put through the mouth.
| Before a meal. Take 3-5 minutes to breathe and give gratitude for the meal you are about to receive.
| In the shower. I have visualization technique I share here.
| At a traffic light. Eyes open (obvi!!) fir this one. Box breathing is great to do when you're waiting at a traffic light. Breathe in to the count of four, hold to the count of four, exhale to the count of four, hould to the count of four. 4-4-4-4.
| Workshop/session. Workshops, classes and sessions are a great way to reconnect with your body, and clear out all that is no longer serving you. Don't forget I offer 1:1 sessions in both a virtual and in-person setting. You can find the details here.
These are just a few ways you can utilize breathwork in your everyday life, and why breathwork deserves a spot in your wellness toolbox. It's a simple, accessible practice that requires no special equipment or location. Ready to take a deep dive into the world of breathwork and experience its transformative power?
